WELLSBORO, PA - Citizens & Northern Bank is donating $50,000 to the American Red Cross for flood relief efforts locally. The funds will be donated to the Lycoming and Bradford/Sullivan Chapters of the Red Cross. Those two chapters are coordinating flood relief efforts in C&N’s eight county market area.
A number of communities served by Citizens & Northern Bank were devastated by the historic flooding last week.
“This disaster has touched our customers, employees, families, friends and neighbors. Many are now without basic necessities and struggling both financially and personally. We sincerely hope that this donation will help ease some of that burden. Citizens & Northern stands committed to helping our local communities recover and rebuild.” said Charles H. Updegraff, Jr., C&N chairman, president and CEO.
In addition, all offices of Citizens & Northern Bank are serving as flood relief collection points for the local Red Cross Chapters in Williamsport and Towanda. The Williamsport Red Cross serves Lycoming County and the Towanda Red Cross serves Bradford and Sullivan Counties.
The bank’s 25 open offices will collect monetary donations and cleaning supplies for the two Red Cross chapters. Donations will be accepted from employees, customers and the general public during regular business hours.
Cleaning supplies needed include laundry detergent, bleach and other cleaners, buckets, rags, mops, garbage bags, tarps and dish liquid. Bottled water is also needed. Supplies will be delivered to the Red Cross Chapters on a regular basis, while monetary donations will be divided between the two chapters. Donations will be accepted as long as the need remains.
